How long does it take to recover from knee replacement surgery?
It’s a great question, and a lot depends on the individual, but in general terms, you’re weight-bearing right away. However, for something as significant as this, the finish line is usually around one year. After one year, you’ll be at your baseline in terms of pain level and range of motion. Beyond that, it’s hard to predict further changes.
This doesn’t mean it will take you a full year to recover, but generally, recovery can range from about three months to a year. Some people feel great at six months, and others may feel good as early as six weeks. Recovery also depends on factors like your pre-op range of motion, overall health, any comorbidities, activity level, and personal expectations.
These are the key things to consider in your recovery timeline.
